Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy for homeschooling families.

Welcome to Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy

Unleash Your Inner Equestrian with Old Wire Stables!

At Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy, we believe some of life's greatest lessons are learned outside the traditional classroom. Our academy provides a unique, hands-on educational experience where students explore equine science, agriculture, environmental stewardship, and life skills in a safe, engaging, and supportive setting.

Designed for homeschooling families, our program blends experiential learning with academic enrichment, allowing students to discover how science, mathematics, language arts, history, and critical thinking come to life through the world of horses. Students participate in interactive labs, horse care and management, anatomy and physiology, nutrition, stable management, agriculture, conservation, and leadership development—all while building confidence, responsibility, and a strong work ethic.

At Old Wire Stables, learning extends far beyond textbooks. Students develop problem-solving skills, teamwork, communication, and character through meaningful, real-world experiences that foster independence and personal growth. Every lesson is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage lifelong learning, and cultivate respect for animals, nature, and one another.

About Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy

                       Who We Are

Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy is a secular, experiential learning program located in Fort White, Florida. We provide a unique educational environment where students learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences centered around horses, agriculture, nature, and real-world life skills. Our academy complements home education by giving students opportunities to apply academic concepts in an engaging setting while developing confidence, responsibility, leadership, and critical thinking.

Unlike a traditional classroom, our students are active participants in their education. Every lesson is designed to encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and personal growth through practical experience.

                         Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire lifelong learners by combining academic enrichment with experiential education in an environment that fosters responsibility, character, confidence, and respect for others. We strive to help every student develop practical skills, independent thinking, and a strong work ethic while cultivating a deep appreciation for animals, agriculture, and the natural world.

We believe education should prepare students not only for academic success, but for life.

    What Makes Our Academy Different

Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy is built around learning by doing.

Rather than spending the entire day behind a desk, students actively engage in meaningful projects that reinforce classroom concepts through real-world application. Students explore science by studying equine anatomy, biology, and nutrition. They develop mathematics through feed calculations, measurements, budgeting, and problem-solving. Reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking become part of authentic daily experiences.

Our academy also emphasizes:

  • Small class sizes with individualized attention
  • Hands-on equine science and agricultural education
  • Outdoor learning that encourages exploration and discovery
  • Character development through responsibility and teamwork
  • Certified educational support during Academic Anchor Sessions
  • A safe, welcoming environment where every student is known and valued

Most importantly, we are not a riding school. While riding lessons are available separately through Old Wire Stables, the Academy focuses on equine science, horse care, agriculture, environmental stewardship, and experiential education.

Our Educational Philosophy

We believe that students learn best when education is meaningful, engaging, and connected to the real world.

Children naturally retain information more effectively when they can see, touch, experience, and apply what they are learning. Instead of memorizing facts for a test, students develop genuine understanding through observation, exploration, discussion, and practical application.

We recognize that every child learns differently. By combining traditional academic support with hands-on experiences, we create opportunities for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners to succeed. Our goal is not simply to teach information—it is to cultivate curiosity, confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of learning.

Why Experiential Learning Works

Research consistently shows that students retain more information when they actively participate in the learning process.

Experiential learning transforms education from passive observation into active discovery. Students are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, collaborate with others, and reflect on their experiences. These activities strengthen critical thinking, improve memory retention, and build confidence.

Working with horses naturally teaches responsibility, patience, communication, and emotional awareness. Caring for animals requires consistency, attention to detail, and accountability—qualities that transfer directly into academic success and everyday life.

When students experience concepts firsthand instead of simply reading about them, learning becomes memorable, enjoyable, and lasting.

At Old Wire Stables Equine Learning Academy, we believe education should inspire curiosity, develop character, and prepare students with the knowledge and practical skills they need to thrive in school, in their communities, and throughout their lives.
