The Old Wire Stables Team

Charlie - Barn Owner/Instructor/Trainer

Charlie began riding at the young age of five with the encouragement of his mother.  Never having had formal lessons and rarely a saddle, he mostly learned to ride on his own.  Growing up, he spent most days exploring the woods and backroads on horseback where he found his peace.

After spending 20 years in service to the public and government both here at home and abroad, he retired to spend more time with family and to explore an old passion once again.

Charlie purchased property in Ft. White, Florida and Old Wire Stables opened in 2016, first as a boarding facility.  Not long after, an old school cowgirl came to board her two horses with Old Wire Stables and Charlie was fortunate to find a mentor and trainer in Miss Debbie Jacobsen.  Under Miss Debbie's guidance and tutelage he began learning how to train horses and impart that knowledge onto others.  It didn't take long for Old Wire Stables to morph into the equestrian business it is today offering horse boarding, lessons, horse training, breeding and the occasional horse sale.

Charlie now spends his days working with horses and students enjoying the best job and environment he could ask for.  He is blessed having his two daughters by his side as well as a wonderful extended family and team here at Old Wire Stables. He invites you to come out and experience a little piece of Heaven on Earth and have a good time.

Emily - Instructor/Trainer (Western Sport)

Emily, a former student of Charlie's from the beginning, rekindled her love of horses through OWS and has returned as a full time instructor/trainer.  Along the years Emily has acquired many skills and key components in basic horsemanship.  Learning how to ride in a variety of environments, she decided to start riding competitively.  A year into riding in various competitive barrel races, she decided to run for Rodeo Queen and claimed her title in 2021.  Giving up her title in late 2022, Emily has since returned to Old Wire Stables to continue growing in her horsemanship skills while imparting what she's learned thus far to other future equestrians. You can find Emily at Old Wire Stables teaching basic horsemanship and gaming events, e.g. barrels and poles. Emily also assists with day to day operations and running of the barn.

Charlette - Instructor (English/Jumping)

Miss Charlette began riding at the young age of 10 and by the age 12 had her first horse and became a competitive rider showing actively in various show circuits throughout Florida in the hunters, jumpers and equitation with her highest accolades coming from the Marshall and Sterling Medal Finals. Miss Charlette came to Old Wire Stables simply as a mom looking for a place for her own daughter to learn basic horsemanship and found herself reignited with an old passion. She looks forward to sharing that passion and knowledge with all those she can as an instructor here at the stables. Miss Charlette will be instructing in basic horsemanship along with introduction to jumping.
